1 Day Emergency
First Aid at Work This course is suitable for those wishing to learn basic first aid, support a qualified first aider and
thoseemployed
in a low risk working environment with fewer than 50 people.
Where an employer’s assessmentof First Aid needs identifies
that a First Aider (FAAW trained) is not necessary, the minimum requirement for an employer is to appoint a person to take charge of
the First Aid arrangements.
The duration is 6 to 7 hours and will equip delegates with the basic first aid skills to deal
with anemergency
situation and call for the emergency services. Course Coent: • Aims of First Aid • Dealing with an emergency • The priorities of treatment • Managing an unconscious casualty •
CPR for adults, children and infants • Managing a choking adult both conscious and unconscious • Treatment for major and minor wounds •
Treatment for shock • Hygiene procedures • Treatment of a burn or scald • Recording incidents and first aid actions Plus any additional content requested prior to the course.
This
course is very practical and will require the participants to demonstrate procedures on the floor. Participants must be fit enough to get themselves
on and off the floor in order to access the casualty anddemonstrate a level of stamina through the administration of CPR. Everyone is advised to wear practical clothing such as
trousers and flat shoes for the duration of the course.
Assessment is continuous during the course and the certificate provided lasts for 3 years.
